You Can Still Have A Free Yahoo Local Listing

This question comes up a lot, so I thought I’d do you all a solid and create a post to show you exactly how you can still set up a free listing on Yahoo Local, despite the fact that they make it seem like the only way to get listed on Yahoo Local is to pay for Yext. Not true.

Step One:

Go to the Yext branded Yahoo Local sign up page located here:

Step Two:

Enter in your (or your client’s) business information into the form at the top of the page and click Find My Listings.

Step Three:

Click on the CONTINUE button AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE (see screenshot).

Step Four:

Fill in all of the business’ information on the next screen and then click Continue at the bottom of the screen:

Step Five

This is the step where they try to trick you into thinking your only options are paid monthly fees. THEY ARE NOT.  In tiny text, below all of the package options is a text only link that says: Claim your Basic Only Listing on Yahoo. This is the free option.

Then, you will get to a confirmation or purchase page where your amount will be $0.00. Here is the kicker though, Yext is still going to try to intimidate you or your client into signing up for their Power Listing service:

There you have it. If you have a different experience or know of another workaround, please do share in the comments!

As of today, April 30, 2017, there is no link for the free yahoo local listing. Just last week I created one for a client of mine. They’ve taken it away now.
